Teacher: Okay class, Listen up and
settle down. It’s time for show and tell. Who will be first? Jeremiah?
Come on up to the front Jeremiah and don’t forget to speak up.
Jeremiah: My name is…
Teacher: Louder please.
Jeremiah: My name is Jeremiah Tin Can and I recycle everything. My
allowance is five dollars a week. I have been making five dollars
a week since I was nine years old – I’m ten now. 01That’s 52 weeks
times 5 equals 260. I have in my piggy bank $238 dollars that I saved
because I recycle everything except for the things I have to buy –
a birthday present for my little sister – and I have to do that every
year but this year my mom said I could make her a present so I’m going
to do that instead and I figured I can make her a fairy house out
of acorns and sticks that I find on the sidewalk because she’s reeeeallly
into fairies.
Teacher: That’s very nice Jeremiah, but did you bring anything to
show us today?
Jeremiah: I brought a lamp that made out of an old bottle. And…I
brought a baseball glove that I made of a milk container.
Kid: That’s kinda cool.
Jeremiah: And I brought a go-cart that I made out of my little sisters
old stroller.
Kids: No way, that is so cool!
Jeremiah: I can’t ride it yet because my mom says I don’t have a
helmet even though I made a helmet out of old newspapers and glue
but my mom says I have to buy a real helmet because a paper helmet
isn’t safe.
Kids: Can you show us how to do that?
Jeremiah: All you have to do is before you throw anything away look
at it and ask, “What can this become?” and then turn it into that.
Kids: After school I’m gonna try to turn our old refrigerator into
a computer! I’m going to make a miniature bug fort out of orange juice
containers. I’m going to grow a garden in our old egg shells.
Jeremiah: And guys, guys, I can make a tree with the seeds leftover
from the apple I ate for lunch.
Kids: No way!!!! I want to make a tree. Me too! Jeremiah Tin Can
you’re the coolest kid in the land.
Teacher: Good job Jeremiah.
